Vaudreuil-Soulange delegation marches for women’s equality, justice and dignity

Vaudreuil-Soulanges, October 20, 2025 – On Saturday, October 18, 45 participants from 10 community organizations in Vaudreuil-Soulanges joined their voices to those of over 16,000 people at the World March of Women in Quebec City. The CDC-VS proudly put forward clear demands for a more just, egalitarian and inclusive world.

In an alarming global and national context – marked by rising feminicide rates, the rollback of women’s rights and the rise of masculinism – the CDC-VS affirms its solidarity with feminist struggles and its commitment to local action to counter these trends.

“We cannot remain silent in the face of the undermining of hard-won rights. As community players, we have a duty to embody change and make equality a concrete foundation for our practices, our projects and our words,” said Sébastien Legros, Executive Director of CDC-VS.

Véronique Girard, President of CDC-VS and General Manager of Hébergement La Passerelle, added:
“In this context, where the voice of women – particularly those from marginalized groups – is still too often relegated to the background, it’s crucial that we march together. We must collectively affirm that dignity, justice, physical and psychological safety and equality must guide all our actions.”

Collectively supported commitments

Through its participation in the World March of Women, the CDC-VS is publicly reaffirming its four fundamental demands, which are also supported by the network of CDCs in Quebec through the Table nationale des CDC (TNCDC):

  1. Identify and combat systemic discrimination and violence against women in all spheres of society;

  2. Actively support feminist struggles and community initiatives that promote gender justice, dignity and protection for women;

  3. Collectively evolve our practices to guarantee real equality in speech, power and recognition;

  4. Integrate a transversal feminist reading into all our actions, communications and public demands.

Solidarity to live by every day

Beyond this one-off mobilization, the CDC-VS reminds us that equality cannot be decreed: it must be built over time, through dialogue, education, the presence of women at all decision-making levels, and concrete local policies. In a climate of disintegration of the social fabric, misinformation and the rise of extreme ideologies, the community movement remains an essential bulwark in the defense of democracy, human rights and social justice.

The CDC-VS would like to thank its member organizations, volunteers, partners and all those involved in making this collective participation in a high point of citizen mobilization possible.
