Vaudreuil-Dorion, September 24, 2026 — With the provincial elections approaching, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Community Development Corporation (CDC-VS) has been engaging in frequent discussions with the candidates to raise awareness of the realities, contributions, and issues facing the community sector in our region.
Over the past few weeks, our CEO, Sébastien Legros, has met with all of the candidates: Jeannette Uwantege, Chantal Darcy, Marilyne Picard, Kristian Solarik, Meili Faille, James Hughes, Francis Deroo, Alexandre Daneau, and Olivier Bertin-Mahieux.
Advocate for the concerns of our member organizations
These meetings provided an opportunity to highlight the vital role played by community organizations in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, as well as to discuss the challenges that affect their ability to meet the growing and increasingly complex needs of the population.
The discussions focused in particular on key issues for the community sector: mission-based funding, recognition of the role of organizations, and maintaining a strong and accessible social safety net.
This initiative is fully in line with the CDC-VS’s role as a representative body. During election season, we hope that candidates will gain a better understanding of the realities of the community sector and recognize its contribution to social development and quality of life in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
Concrete data to discuss community issues
These meetings provided an opportunity, in particular, to present the key findings of our Study on the Socioeconomic Impact of Community Organizations in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, which was released last March.
This study provides a concrete measure of the contribution of community organizations to our region. Each year, community organizations reach 77,000 people and carry out approximately 366,000 interventions. Their contribution generates socioeconomic benefits estimated at $119.5 million, particularly through their economic activities, indirect impacts, and the cost savings generated for the healthcare system.
Beyond the numbers, the study also highlights the vital role that organizations play in supporting individuals and families, as well as the challenges their teams face.
It is therefore an important tool for raising awareness among candidates about the need to better support, fund, and recognize the community sector.
A nonpartisan approach
The CDC-VS prioritizes a nonpartisan approach and dialogue with the various candidates and political parties. These meetings allow us to convey our members’ concerns, answer candidates’ questions, and ensure that community issues are addressed in discussions about the future of our region.
The discussion continues during the debates on September 28, 2026
This commitment to fostering dialogue will continue on September 28, when the CDC-VS will partner with local media for debates in the Vaudreuil and Soulanges ridings.
These debates will provide another opportunity to address the issues affecting our region and to help the public better understand the positions of the various candidates.
Through these meetings and its participation in the debates, the CDC-VS continues its work to ensure that the realities and concerns of the community are taken into account in the discussions that shape the future of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
