Municipal Elections 2025: CDC creates a bridge between candidates and the community sector

Vaudreuil-Dorion, October 24, 2025 – In anticipation of the November municipal elections, the Corporation de développement communautaire de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (CDC-VS) organized the first edition of its 5 à 7 “À la rencontre du communautaire” last night, a rallying initiative designed to bring candidates closer to the realities of the social field.

The event, held at Bar Chez Maurice in Saint-Lazare, brought together 39 representatives from 25 CDC-VS member organizations, as well as 34 candidates running for the positions of mayor and municipal councillor in the municipalities of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. Through a “community speed-dating” format, the event enabled direct, dynamic and human exchanges between the various players, in a friendly and committed atmosphere.

“This 5 à 7 represents an exceptional opportunity for dialogue. Citizens often challenge candidates on concrete issues: access to food aid, employment support, resources for young people… Tonight, the answers were there, embodied by our organizations,” said Véronique Girard, Chair of the CDC-VS Board of Directors and General Manager of Hébergement La Passerelle.

“What we want is to establish a culture of collaboration between elected municipal officials and the community. This type of event allows us to initiate this dialogue in a spirit of openness, mutual respect and, above all, a shared vision for the well-being of the population,” said Sébastien Legros, General Manager of the CDC-VS.

A original format for social networking

Organized as a series of lightning meetings between candidates and organizations, the 5 à 7 event showcased the diversity of services offered in the 23 municipalities of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC, while also creating the first lasting connections between the political and community spheres.

The event was also distinguished by a playful animation: each participant was given a community bingo card, composed of questions about the missions of the organizations present. Candidates had to guess which organizations were behind the clues, encouraging interaction throughout the event.

The CDC-VS would like to extend its warmest thanks to all those present, to the partners involved, and to its team for organizing this successful event.
