Vaudreuil-Dorion, September 30, 2026
On September 28 and 29, 2026, the CDC Vaudreuil-Soulanges partnered with the election debates held for the Vaudreuil, Soulanges, and Beauharnois ridings in the run-up to the provincial elections on October 5.
The initiative was led by a consortium of four regional media outlets: CSUR.TV—Vaudreuil-Soulanges community television; Néomédia Vaudreuil-Soulanges/Valleyfield; Le Saint-François from Gravité Info; and Le Gleaner. The CDC-VS joined the initiative as a partner, alongside other local organizations, to help highlight the region’s economic, social, and community issues.
The debates were webcast live. In the Vaudreuil riding, four candidates participated: Chantal Darcy (Équipe Christine Fréchette – Coalition Avenir Québec), Meili Faille (Parti Québécois), James Hughes (Quebec Liberal Party), and Jeannette Uwantege (Québec Solidaire).
In the Soulanges riding, three candidates were present: Olivier Bertin-Mahieux (Quebec Liberal Party), Francis Deroo (Parti Québécois), and Marilyne Picard (Équipe Christine Fréchette – Coalition Avenir Québec). Kristian Solarik, the PCQ candidate in Soulanges, was unable to participate in the debates.
In the Beauharnois riding, four candidates ran: Claude Reid (Équipe Christine Fréchette – Coalition Avenir Québec), Alexandre Daneau (Parti Québécois), Charles Royer Tremblay (Quebec Liberal Party), Angélika Homère (Quebec Conservative Party).
Making room for social andcommunity issues
As a partner, the CDC-VS helped develop questions designed to address social, health, and community issues. This collaboration is part of the CDC-VS’s advocacy role and its commitment to raising awareness about the realities faced by community organizations and the populations they serve.
These debates also gave residents the opportunity to hear the various candidates present their positions on several issues that directly affect Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
The CDC-VS would like to thank the media organizations that are members of the consortium, as well as all the partners who contributed to the success of this regional democratic initiative.
The debates were webcast live on CSUR.TV and can be viewed online for those who wish to watch them again:
