Mission

In keeping with government action plans on domestic violence and government strategies to prevent and counter sexual violence, the mission of the Table VC-AS is: La Table violence conjugale et agression sexuelle de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is a round table dedicated to countering and preventing domestic and sexual violence.

Goals

Taking into account that these problems are mainly experienced by women and children, the objectives of the VC-AS Table are :

  • Identify the issues specific to the problem of violence against women;
  • Promote social change to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault;
  • Jointly determine priorities for action by initiating and supporting concrete projects aimed at eliminating domestic violence and sexual assault;
  • Encourage social, economic, educational and legal action to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault;
  • Working to protect victims;
  • Encourage organizations working with people who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to work together, taking into account different realities: (seniors, LGBTQ+ people, people with functional limitations, immigrants and people from ethnocultural minorities, young people and male victims).
  • Promote and encourage respect for the rights of victims of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Promote the exchange of information and collaboration between resources and the dissemination of this information to the organizations concerned;
  • Promote the implementation of concrete cooperation activities between partners.

Achievements

Membership requirements

The Table is made up of representatives from organizations working in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

Admission of new members

An organization wishing to become a member will be invited to meet the members at a regular meeting to introduce itself and explain the reasons for its application. New organizations are admitted following discussion by the committee. A decision will then be taken by a majority of members present.

Member commitment

Committee member:

  • Participates in regular committee meetings;
  • Agrees with the committee’s mission, objectives, operating procedures and rules;
  • Actively participates in discussions, decision-making, projects and files supported by the committee;
  • Informs committee members of any projects directly related to the committee’s concerted actions;
  • Regularly communicates information on the committee’s activities to its members and stakeholders.

Meeting description

A minimum of four 3-hour meetings per year.
