Mission

Promote the development of communication and language skills in young children by continuously engaging stakeholders and removing barriers to access for activities and interventions throughout their growth.

Objectives

• Giving children the best possible start in kindergarten.
• Supporting parents in accessing effective speech therapy services.
• Developing (essential and complementary) activities based on the concept of community speech therapy.
• Involving all service providers.

Meeting description

4 meetings of 2 ½ hours per year

History

• Prior to 2014: Group assessment at CLSC and information sessions for parents of children on CLSC waiting lists.
• 2014: Through funding from TPE VS, child educators, language workshops on CLSC premises (Coteau-du-Lac, Vaudreuil) for children on CLSC waiting list (speech therapist went to 1st and last meeting)
• 2017-2019 : GTM-ODL showcase project for children in the community and to children targeted by the CLSC, speech therapist would go 2 times in a cohort and enroll children in the CLSC if not already enrolled, set up the Comité Langage VS
• 2020 : Pause of the Comité Langage VS and its work, due to the pandemic
• March 2021: Participation in the Alliance Langage Montérégie Ouest project
• June 2021: Resumption of Comité Langage VS work and change of CB
• March 2023: Alliance Langage project extended until September 2023
• May 2023: Merger with Discutons Langage (Suroît and Haut-Saint-Laurent) to become Discutons Langage VHS
• September 2023: 2nd extension of the Alliance Langage project until March 2024
