Vaudreuil-Dorion, October 9, 2025 – In an atmosphere of pride and accomplishment, Toit d’Abord Habitations abordables Vaudreuil-Soulanges today held the official dedication ceremony for the new building located at 11
, and 15, Saint-Michel Street in Vaudreuil-Dorion, marking the delivery of 12 new affordable family housing units.

The Saint-Michel Project: A Concrete Achievement

The organization has thus taken an important step forward in its mission to address the region’s pressing need for affordable housing. The Saint-Michel project marks the first concrete achievement of the organization, which was founded in February 2023. The project began in June 2023, was completed in October 2025, and represents an investment of more than $5 million.
There are now 12 affordable housing units available to residents of Vaudreuil-Soulanges:

• 9 two-bedroom (4½) units: $1,099/month (parking included)
  3 3-bedroom apartments (5½): $1,293/month (parking included)

These housing units are intended for workers, individuals, and families, among others. These affordable housing units, whose rents are set by the Société d’Habitation du Québec (SHQ), are an essential component of the region’s housing supply continuum. They aim to ensure long-term affordability while promoting social acceptability.

A response to the region’s pressing needs

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges RCM is experiencing rapid growth, and the need for housing of all types is increasing day by day. Currently, the region lags significantly behind the rest of Quebec in terms of the supply of affordable housing. According to a study conducted by Allan Gaudreault, as of 2019, the MRCVS was already facing a shortfall of more than 1,700 social and affordable housing units, and this shortfall has widened significantly since 2019. Faced with this reality, Toit d’Abord has established itself as a key player within its community.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the affordable housing project at 15 St-Michel in Vaudreuil-Dorion brought together members of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges RCM council, Desjardins, members of the board of directors of Toit d’Abord, as well as employees of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional Housing Authority. This strong turnout underscores the collective commitment to the development of affordable housing in the region.
