Description of meetings (frequency, duration, etc.)

Five meetings per year and organization of the Night for the Homeless on thethird Friday in October.

History

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Homelessness Roundtable (TCIVS) was founded following an initial meeting in June 2001, which brought together regional organizations to develop a collaborative project under the federal Community Action Partnerships Initiative (IPAC) program. These meetings, known as the IPAC Meetings, helped assess the reality of homelessness in the region and evolved into the TCIVS in June 2002.

Originally, the Women’s Center oversaw the TCIVS, which was later taken over by the CDC Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The committees associated with the Night of the Homeless merged with the Table to streamline meetings.

Current Status and Future Outlook

Since the pandemic, the TCIVS has ceased its activities. For several years, the issue of homelessness in the region has been addressed by the management of L’Aiguillage. They have collaborated with the Suroît and Haut-St-Laurent regions, where a new roundtable is also being established. Although the TCIVS has not held any meetings, the management team at L’Aiguillage has continued to represent the Task Force and the issues facing Vaudreuil-Soulanges before regional authorities.

Members of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Housing Working Committee met on June 20, 2024, and expressed a shared desire to relaunch a collaborative effort to address homelessness in the region. Steps have been taken to gauge the interest of various organizations and partners in participating in this initiative.
